The Perfect Jumpsuit Alternative from Grana

Thursday, April 21, 2016

I love a good jumpsuit or romper. There is just something so sleek and simple about that one piece. Unfortunately I often find myself in situations where that jumpsuit becomes as awkward as trying to dance upside down (think porta potty's at Coachella!). For such situations, I have found the perfect alternative in Grana's silk racerback cami and silk loose shorts.

Combined together, Grana's silk racerback cami and silk loose shorts make the perfect jumpsuit alternative. And even better, they can be worn separate just as easy (I recently wore the silk racerback cami with white denim flares). As such, they are the perfect packing addition to any suitcase.

I've mentioned my love for Grana before, and I have to say all their silk pieces are so on point. With pants, long sleeves, shorts, camis, tanks and more; it's so easy to make a jumpsuit alternative as an option for year round. Cami and shorts for spring/summer, long sleeve and shorts for pre-fall and long sleeves and pants for autumn to winter. I will buy one in each color please.

I adore how each piece from Grana comes with a little card sharing the origins and story of the fabric it was made from. According to my Chinese Silk card that accompanied my cami and shorts . . .

"Silk production started in ancient China, and spread to the west along the silk road. Back then it was reserved for royalty and nobility, and for many centuries the Chinese closely guarded the secrets of their laborious craft. Now the production of high quality silk demands close attention, and the best is still made by Chinese artisans, using secret methods honed over generations. Our search for the finest silk led us to the ancient city of Huzhou, also known as the 'City of Silk'."

Grana is currently e-commerce based only. However they have pop-up shops "Popping" up, so you can try items on and see/touch/feel the garments available. There was a recent pop-up in San Francisco and I'm crossing my fingers the next one will be in Seattle! In addition to more silk pieces, I'm also eyeing a Mongolian cashmere boyfriend sweater, Japanese denim shorts and a Peruvian pima cotton bandeau top.

The idea for Grana started in Peru when Luke Grana was visiting his brother and discovered the superior quality of Peruvian Pima Cotton. Impressed by the high quality of the fabric, and annoyed by the oh-so-common low qaulity and high mark-ups of the fashion industry, the idea for Grana was born - offer timeless essentials from the world's best fabrics at guilt-free prices. With this new business idea, Luke packed his bags and left his home and beloved surf spot in Australia and moved to Hong Kong. With a 500 sq. ft. warehouse and one batch of shirts from Peru, Grana was introduced to the world in 2014. Although they are no longer in that small warehouse, they remain true to their roots with the same determination to change the fashion industry from the ground up.
