How I Keep My Hair Looking Fresh and Healthy Everyday in 3 Easy Steps

I have long, thick frizzy hair that is constantly a hassle in the morning. I am always on the lookout for ways to make my hair care and beauty routine easier and more effective, because as much as my hair is a hassle, it's also one of my favorite traits and I'm definitely not ready for the cut. I've partnered with Satin-lined Caps by Grace Eleyae to share how I keep my hair looking healthy in 3 easy steps.

Give a Sh!rt: 5 Steps to Lower Your Clothing Footprint

Thank you Value Village for partnering on this post! Sustainable fashion is "in" and when it comes down to it, the most sustainable clothing on our planet is clothing that already exists! Give a Shi!t: 5 Steps to Lower Your Clothing Footprint

Did you know the world now consumes more than 80 billion pieces of new clothing each year (4x as much as in 1980), with more and more ending up in landfills?! On top of that, the average American throws away 81 pounds of clothing each year! That is crazy talk.

Fashion is one of the most wasteful industries on our planet and one of the largest sources of pollution; it takes over 700 gallons of water to make just one t-shirt and over 1800 gallons of water to make just one pair of jeans. That's over 2500 gallons of water for just one outfit. And water is just one of many natural resources required to make new clothing, Yikes!

Knowing that I am living on a planet with a finite amount of resources and with billions of other people, I am always looking for ways to reduce my ecological footprint ~ "the impact of a person or community on the environment, expressed as the amount of land required to sustain their use of natural resources." - Oxford Dictionary

My Fiance and I have chosen to live in a small house (900 sq feet) in the City where we have access to public transportation (2 buses within a few blocks that can get us downtown in 15 minutes!) and restaurants, shops and parks within walking distance. We share one vehicle, an electric hybrid, and always consider where our food comes from and try to buy local (growing within 100 miles from where we live) when shopping for meals (hello farmer's markets, bread from our neighborhood bakery and local produce and dairy at grocery stores).

This year my goal is to lower the ecological footprint of my closet, because Earth Day is everyday!  Value Village just released the 2017 State of Reuse Report, examining perceptions around clothing consumption and reuse; I am taking note and giving a sh!rt about my clothing footprint!

Getting Married? Keep Your Guests Informed with Your Wedding Website!
Soon after S & I got engaged we knew we would need to put together a wedding website. This was actually one of the first things we did after S popped the question! With friends and family spread near and far, we wanted to make sure we had all the important details in one place to help our guests be able to focus on the celebration and not stress about the details.

A wedding website is an easy way for guests to find all the wedding info they need in one place and GoDaddy’s new website builder is a one-stop-shop for creating your own dream wedding website. We included our wedding site on our Save-the-Dates, knowing that many guests would need to make travel and lodging accommodations prior to our invitations going out. GoCentral gives engaged couples an easy way for their guests to find all the wedding info they need.

World Premier: Romy and Michele's High School Reunion The Musical at Seattle 5th Avenue Theatre! (& Tickets Giveaway!)

Disclosure: I received tickets in exchange for press coverage. All opinions are my own!

World Premier of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion Coming to Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre!

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion has always been a favorite. From the moment I saw it in the movie theater back in the 90's as a teenager, to each time I watch it now as one of my go-to films for re-watching, Romy & Michele is truly a cult classic 90s film. Particularly because of all the fabulous 90s fashion and those costumes! Hello dance routine to "Time after Time" in those mini-dresses!

The film turns 20 this year (does that make me old?!) and once again all things 90's are trending, which my inner High School self is absolutely loving (all the platforms, flared jeans, and baby tees please!) I recently read that the 90s are to today's teens what the 70s was to those of us coming of age in the 90s!

My 90s Teen self is so excited to thus share that the world premier of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion The Musical is coming to Seattle's own 5th Avenue Theatre this June! And I have 2 tickets to GIVE AWAY! (keep reading . . . !)

Wedding Registry Essentials: Outfit Your New Home Kitchen

The countdown is officially on! Less than 4 months until S and I get married on an island! We are deep into wedding planning with (most of) our vendors nailed down and focusing more on many of the details and, of course, continuing to add to our wedding registry, so fun!

Since S & I met in Ann Arbor, Michigan, one of the many things we have loved as a couple is enjoying a home cooked meal together. A visit to the farmers market, a quick stop for a bottle of wine and and a meal cooked together at home, is our idea of a great weekend day and/or evening. When creating our bridal registry, we wanted to include long-lasting, quality cookware that we will use for years to come.

This has become particularly true since moving into our new home in West Seattle. Prior to buying our first home, we lived in a loft in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle (with a kitchen so small we couldn't both fit in it at the same time) and before that we were in an apartment in Half Moon Bay on the California coast (again, hello tiniest of kitchens. . . ). We are so excited to now have a full kitchen to cook in!

As such, outfitting our new home kitchen is at at the top of our list of wedding registry essentials. Calphalon provides me with the highest quality tools, expertly crafted and designed, to bring the best out of every meal, which is so important for me and my fiancĂ© as we look to have the best cookware. When I register for Calphalon products, I know I’m registering for the highest performing tools for my kitchen. They have a variety of cookware, bakeware, cutlery and more!
