Seasonal Running Transitions Featuring Brooks Fall 2021

And just like that we're midway through Fall 2021! Holy smokes, Fall in Seattle burst on to the scene like nobody's business. One minute we're going in hot at 110 degrees in Seattle mid-summer, we slowly move onto cruise control in the 80s and then just like that the rain starts pounding, the temperatures drop and the color changing leaves are already being whisked from trees by the wind.

However, from these photos you'll notice, that although the temperatures are dropping and the weather getting a bit temperamental, I am still wearing shorts to run. Because, yes, I am one of those runners that refuses to give up shorts and transition to leggings or tights until it is truly winter or the snow begins to fall. There is just something about my legs being a little bit more free that propels me forward and lets me feel like I'm flying.

Because of this though, I am all about layering in other ways to keep me warm and dry as we continue to creep through Fall into Winter. Layering is absolutely key for seasonal transitions. One minute it's 60 and sunny, the next the rain is pelting your face. This week for example, we were hitting close to 70 a few days ago and I barely needed a long sleeve over my shorts and sports bra.. Today (as I'm writing this post) it's raining with a high of 58 and a wind chill that's dropping it to feel like 51. I will definitely need a few layers, including one to repel rain, when I venture outside for a run.

When I'm choosing what running clothing and running shoes to wear in seasonal transitions (and really, year round!), I turn to Brooks Running. I've been wearing Brooks Running clothing and shoes for years (decades!) and I trust Brooks for their quality, style, wear-ability and the newest technology in running gear.

Brooks Fall 2021 collection holds up to everything I've known Brooks for and even goes beyond my expectations. I recently tested out Brooks newest running shoe technology, the Brooks Aurora-BL Women's Running Shoes in Grey/Coral/Black, for a Seattle neighborhood run. Wow oh wow are these shoes AH-MAZING. We're talking so much cushion, smooth transitions, super springy and really just an incredible running shoe. I'm in love! Also they're also extremely light! They're limited edition, so snag 'em while you can. Seriously, this is one "out of this world" shoe that delivers on performance.

The Brooks Fall 2021 line overall is just incredible in terms of style and running performance. They've updated some classics with new colors and performance tweaks, and added a few new styles that already shine as standout stars. One of those is the new Notch Thermal Hoodie. I just love the new Brooks Notch Thermal Hoodie in Heliotrope. Well, I am also honestly just obsessed with the heliotrope color from Brooks F21 collection in general, give me all the heliotrope please!

But back to the Brooks Notch Thermal Hoodie in Heliotrope, because wow is it good. It's the perfect layering piece. With a stow-able hood, thumb-holes on the sleeves (that turn into mittens!) and multiple pockets, it really is an essential running piece. It's perfect for cooler nighttime runs and includes DriLayer fabric to ensure serious warmth while wicking sweat. New favorite!

Brooks Shield Hybrid Vest in Magenta/Heliotrope is also a new piece in the Brooks F21 line and is a perfect layering piece for added warmth and weather protection. It's wind and water resistant and has secure storage, including zip-safe hand pockets, for run essentials. I"m a big fan of a vest as a layering piece in seasonal transitions, as it provides both insulation and breathability.

What you can't see in these photos, but what I'm wearing underneath is the Brooks Drive Mesh Run Bra in Heliotrope/Magenta, which is a fantastic running bra for compression support. I love the unique design of the high neck and mesh bra layers and look forward to warmer days next spring//summer when I can wear this beauty as a top layer on its' own. For now it's the perfect first layer before adding a long sleeve as the second (and vest or light jacket as the third.)

The newly updated Brooks Chaser 3" Short in Heliotrope/Brooks is also oh so good. I have been a fan of the Chaser short for years and I love the newly updated style and design. Lightweight fabric, minimal coverage, built in liner, a stay put waistband, secure zippered storage for phone/key/card, an effortless feel - what more could you ask for?! Seriously, I love these shorts. Which is why I will continue to wear them well into sweater weather and when all my other shorts have been put away. We're talking until it snows lol.

However, when temperatures finally drop to to-cold-to-wear-shorts temperatures, I have a beautiful pair of leggings from Brooks Fall 2021 collection to wear.  Brooks Method 7/8 Tight have been another go-to of mine for years, and I'm loving the F21 updates to this tight. My Brooks Method 7/8 Tight in Magenta/Heliotrope will be traded out for my Chaser 3" Short when the weather finally deems it necessary.

Cheers to seasonal transitions, temperamental weather runs and lots of layers! Cheers to Run Happy!

xoxo
