Winter Style Essentials: Gold Rings, Cozy Boots, Puffer Jackets, Chunky Sweaters and Other Elevated Essentials for the Season

Thank you Responsival for partnering on this post.

Winter Style Essentials: Gold Rings, Cozy Boots, Puffer Jackets, Chunky Sweaters and Other Elevated Essentials for the Season

Oh hello Winter (officially tomorrow.) It's now time for a new season and new wardrobe, although really it feels like we've been in winter for a month or so already here in the Pacific Northwest. Between windstorms, rain and a wintry mix of rain and snow today, the need to at least dress like it's winter has been here for awhile.

With the official start of the winter season tomorrow, today (on the last day of fall), I'm sharing with you my favorite winter style essentials. Snow, dropping temperatures and après ski call for not just utilitarian attire, but also the best elevated essentials.

This year my winter style essentials include beautiful gold rings, cozy and weather proof boots, warm puffer jackets, chunky sweaters, modern saddle bags, emerald dresses and elevated rain gear!

What to Wear in Fall: Gold Earrings, Sustainable Scrunchies, Recycled Fleece, Cashmere Sweaters and More of My Favorites This Season!

Thank you Nakturnal for partnering on this post.

What to Wear in Fall: Pearl and Gold Earrings, Sustainable Scrunchies, Cashmere Sweaters and More of My Favorites This Season!

Brr! November is here and with that brings crisp (cold?!) days and nights, the last of the leaves changing color and now falling off trees and a mix of weather from sunshine to rain (and possibly snow?) It's that time of year when layering is key and accessories shine like the golden leaves upon the trees. It can also be a bit challenging to get dressed, as the weather can vary day to day, but its not quite time to break out the winter parka.

Today I'm sharing an outfit I see as my go-to a this time of year - an oh-so-soft cashmere turtleneck sweater, black leggings, sustainable pearl and gold earrings, the most comfortable pair of flats, a cozy fleece made from recycled wool, scrunchies made from recycled water bottles and my favorite thrifted crochet bag. The perfect outfit to wear in fall!

The Best Winter Sweaters Under $200

17. Everlane Cashmere Crew Sweater | Vintage Levis 501 Jeans | Moorea Seal Sunglasses c/o (sold out, similar) | Bembien Marfa Bag | Courage Coins Necklace c/o (sold out, similar)

Winter weather means sweater weather! As much as I wish Spring was just around the corner, the reality is we're still looking at almost 2 months until the change of seasons. February can even be one of the snowiest months (hello Seattle Snowpocalypse 2019!), so sweater season it is!

This year I am all about sweaters that will will be not only perfect through the rest of winter, but also transition well to spring. That might be a short sleeved sweater I wear now over a long sleeve turtleneck base layer and alone once spring appears. Or a heavier sweater now for the warmest of days that I wear over a light skirt or shorts once the sun reappears. I'm also looking for sweaters that will last over time and not need replacing after only a few wears, as I continue to curate a more sustainable closet.

Perfect for aprés ski, strolls around town and cozying up by the fire with a cup of cocoa and good book, I've rounded up my favorite sweaters for winter (also perfect for spring!) for under $200. It's sweater season!

17. EMU Australia Roadside Boots c/o | Sezane Sweater (sold out, similar) | Floral Maxi Dress (sold out, similar) | Moorea Seal Hat c/o (sold out, similar) | Longchamp Le Pliage Club Tote

Snow, freezing temperatures and après ski call for all the winter boots please!

We are experiencing our first snow of the season in Seattle right now and it's beginning to look a lot like a winter wonderland in our City. But with that winter wonderland comes slippery sidewalks and snow to trudge through, requiring the perfect pair of winter boots to beat the winter elements.

This year I am all about winter boots that will keep my feet warm and dry and my toes nice and toasty for the winter season, but are also oh-so-stylish. I'm also looking for boots that will last for years to come and not need replacing next season, as I continue on my quest for fewer, better things and a more sustainable closet.

Perfect for ski towns, city strolling and/or cabin getaways, I've rounded up my favorite boots for winter all for under $200! Winter days call for winter boots!

Heritage and Sustainability With GANT

GANT Shirt c/o (sold out, similar) | Veronica Beard Jeans with Frayed Hem (sold out, similar) | Cuyana Work Clutch | Sam Edelman Black Pumps | Chan Luu Gold-Plated Pearl & Crystal Earrings (sold out, similar) | Cole Haan Aviator Sunglasses

Oh hello Fall! I mean, seriously, how is it already the last day of September?! As October appears tomorrow, Seattle is full swing into fall (winter?!) mode. The leaves are changing colors, the air is crisp, the temperatures have dropped and everyone is sporting fall fashion on the streets of the City.

Although it's crisp and cold, the sun is shining in Seattle and it's definitely feeling like coat weather is on the way. For now, it's time for button down shirts, sweaters, denim and closed-toed shoes. Sandals season is by far my favorite, so it's a bit hard to see that go in place of sweater weather, but I do love fall fashion!

For a recent neighborhood walk, I reached into my closet for a beautiful button-down shirt from GANT. This button down shirt is just the softest, as well as the prettiest blue, and one I have found I reach for quite often. Tied in the front (a french tuck would have also been perfect) and styled with jeans, classic black heels, a Cuyana Work Clutch and my go-to aviator sunglasses, I already know this will become an outfit repeater!

In 2019, GANT celebrates 70 years of innovation and shaping modern American sportswear. Seven decades after this iconic brand's beginnings, the GANT button-down shirt remains a preppy icon. Committed to sustainability, GANT believes the conscious, sustainable approach to designing beautiful products is the future of good business. That climate should never come second to fashion. And in taking responsibility and real action towards creating a more sustainable business. Yes, yes and yes!

From Spring Blossoms to Summer Sunshine

Wednesday, June 5, 2019

We are now a few days into June, which means we're moving from spring blossoms to summer sunshine! The past few months have brought cherry and plum blossoms to our Seattle neighborhood, as well as beautiful flowers and a slow increase in temperatures. With the sun setting now after 9pm, summer is truly in the air!

From Spring Blossoms to Summer Sunshine

With spring blossoms giving way to summer sunshine, if you haven't already, it's time to break out the sundresses and summer sandals and bags! I was thrilled to find this dress by Tularosa on a recent thrifting adventure. Although it has long sleeves, it is lightweight cotton, with gorgeous embroidery and lace details, and a new favorite dress for the season.

Tularosa is known for it's refined vintage-inspired collection of romantic dresses, textural jackets and embroidered tops designed for the wild at heart. A beautiful modern bohème LA-based brand, Tularosa is one of my go-to's for summer.

For a recent neighborhood walk in Seattle, I styled my Tularosa Dress (sold out, similar) with a pair of Paseart Espadrilles Wedge Sandal (similar) from Spain, a Bali Rattan Top Lid Shoulder Bag and a pair of Cole Haan Aviator Sunglasses.

15+ Stylish Sandals You Won't Regret Buying For Summer

ST. AGNI Henni Leather and Rattan Slides | Ulla Johnson Floral Dress (sold out, similar) | Woven Bag (thrifted, similar)

It is officially sandal season! We've hit 70s in Seattle and are expecting 80s tomorrow! Sandal season is pretty much my favorite. I am such a fan of a beautiful sandal. This spring and summer (and hopefully into fall, crossing fingers) I plan to wear sandals each and every day that I can.

We do get the occasional summer shower, but if the sun is shining, sandals will be my go to shoe. If it's a bit cooler out, I plan to pair sandals with vintage Levis and a cashmere sweater. As the days grow warmer, I'll switch jeans out for shorts and eventually drop the sweater to just a tee. On the warmest of days you'll find me in sundresses and sandals.

I've rounded up 15+ pairs of stylish sandals I am just loving this sandal season. With a range of price points and styles, one is bound to be perfect for a day at the beach, a summer boardwalk stroll, dinner al fresco with a loved one and/or brunch with girlfriends. These are 15+ stylish sandals you won't regret buying for summer!

Need New Glasses? At Eye Eye Care Find a Perfectly Curated Selection of Independent Designer & Vintage Dead Stock Frames

Need New Glasses? At Eye Eye Care Find a Perfectly Curated Selection of Independant Designer & Vintage Dead Stock Frames

Garrett Leight California Linnie Eye Glasses c/o Eye Eye | Ganni Barra Print Crepe de Chine Wrap Maxi Dress | Unisa Miola Bootie | Vintage Bag (thrifted, similar)

I was recently invited by Eye Eye Care to stop by for a comprehensive eye exam and new pair of frames and the experience was fantastic! If you are in the market for a new pair of glasses or shades you are going to want to make an appointment at this Seattle eye clinic and optical shop asap.

A glasses wearer since 5th grade, I have gone through many trials and tribulations related to wearing glasses and my nearsightedness. I remember in my middle school years begging my Dad to get contacts (and finally permitted to in 8th grade) and never feeling like the pair of glasses I was given to wear or chose really suited me. Maybe you can relate?

I have also always dreaded going to the eye doctor. Between dilation and the puff test, that was enough to give me anxiety for a week leading up to my visit. But that all changed the moment I stepped foot in Eye Eye Care! Eye Eye Care is the first eye doctor I've visited where I felt calm the minute I opened the door (and really even spotted the storefront).

The snow has transitioned to rain in Seattle and although a bit more snow is in the forecast, beginning signs of Spring are starting to appear. Crocuses are beginning to pop up in our yard and small buds are making their appearance on trees. I am definitely ready for this change of seasons, how about you?!

However, with Spring in Seattle comes rain (April showers, bring May flowers . . .) which makes good rain gear an absolute must-have in the Pacific Northwest. I have long struggled to find rain gear that is stylish, sustainable and keeps me dry, until I discovered Feller!

Feller makes re-imagined waxed cotton outerwear that is uber stylish, has an elevated style, keeps me warm and dry, is a woman owned brand, uses sustainable fabrics and is based in Seattle! So basically, win, win, win, win for me and closet (and perhaps yours?!)

Reformation Becca Wrap Midi Dress c/o Farfetch | Cult Gaia Cupola Clutch c/o Farfetch | Sam Edelman Pointy Toe Pump | Vintage Pearls (similar, similar, similar) | Fluerette of California for Nordstrom Gallery Camel Hair Wool Coat ~ pictured later in post (vintage, similar)

When I think about holiday style, I tend to reach for red, gold and burgundy. There is something to be said, however, about a little green dress and an unexpected bag. Rarer than the little black dress (LBD) or little red dress, the little green dress can be just as eye catching!

Green is not a color I tend to to consider when adding items to my closet. It's not that I dislike the color, I, in fact, like it very much. As a lover of nature and one who is often more inspired by a green landscape over a concrete jungle, you would expect green to be a staple in my wardrobe. Somehow, however, it's a color I often overlook, but I have to say no longer.

From emerald to juniper to pear to pistachio, I am thinking 2019 might just be the year of green. 2018 saw neon green from the runway to the street and the other shades of green are ready for the spotlight!

The little green dress I am wearing in this post is by Reformation. It is not just green in color, but green in fabric and design. Manufactured in a closed-loop system, meaning all excess materials get reused, this is truly a "green" dress!
