It's the season of sunshine! And it is seriously hot hot hot here in Seattle. We will be at, above or close to 90 degrees Fahrenheit for at least the next week. Definitely not complaining though, as I personally love the heat and sunshine.

However, to keep things cool as the thermometer turns up and to make sure I don't get too roasty toasty (as our home does not have A/C) , I plan to enjoy lots of iced coffee, seek out spots with A/C, and, of course, head to the beach in my summer wardrobe favorites!

For my summer and beach wardrobe, I am all about thrifting. It's a great way to save money for summer adventures and also an easy way to curate a more sustainable closet and lower my clothing footprint. Secondhand clothing is the most sustainable clothing because it already exists! Win-Win for the planet. Win-Win for my bank account. Win-Win for my summer wardrobe!

For a recent visit to Cove Park, a tiny park just to the North of the Fauntleroy Ferry Dock in Seattle, I chose to wear two of my favorite summer pieces from my closet I thrifted at Value Village. A vintage palm trees shirt I tied in front and a pair of high waisted shorts ideal for a beach day. Both I scored at Value Village for less than $5 each!

I am absolutely loving the tie-front shirt trend, but I have to admit I think it's a bit silly to buy a pre-made new one when it's super easy to thrift any button-down short or long sleeve shirt and DIY! Just unbutton the bottom buttons up to where you'd like to tie (unbutton higher for a more cropped look). Take each side that's unbuttoned and tie in a knot, so easy!

Also, how amazing is the current high waisted trend?! Please never bring back low waisted or lowrider jeans! I want all things high waisted forever and ever . . . I'm also loving that it's now been around long enough that I'm starting to see newer higher waisted pieces showing up in thrift stores.

What's even better about the high waisted trend though is that we have definitely seen it before. Vintage 60's, 70s, 80s and 90s pieces are really where it's at in terms of the perfect high waisted find. Although these thrifted shorts are not vintage, I did recently score a pair of vintage 1970s highwaisted flared Levis at Value Village I plan to share soon!

For my outing to Cove Park I styled my thrifted high waisted shorts and thrifted palm tree shirt with a pair of sneakers to jump the rocks and driftwood, a panama hat and sunglasses for sun protection and a net bag to keep my belongings I found on Amazon for only $8!

What are you up to this summer? Any summer adventures? Tips for Summer Thrifting? Please leave tips and thoughts in the comments!
