Roses Say I Love You On Valentine's Day

This Valentine's Day is the first year S and I will celebrate Valentine's Day as husband and wife! Although this is our 7th year celebrating Valentine's Day together, somehow this year feels just a bit different celebrating this special day of love as a married couple. Can you believe we've already been married for almost 6 months?!

Every year S makes me feel so loved and special on Valentine's Day. Whether a home cooked meal, a dinner out at a fancy restaurant, or a weekend away, it's always so romantic, full of love and I feel so grateful to call him my best friend, partner and now husband!

One thing that always rings true, no matter how we celebrate Valentine's Day, is S always sends me flowers. Our first year living together in Half Moon Bay, California, S surprised me with a candlelit home cooked vegetarian meal that was better than almost any vegetarian restaurant meal I'd ever eaten. I arrived home from work in San Francisco to a surprise of red roses, candles, champagne and amazing food; I was so in love (and still am!)

The next few years we put on our elegant clothes and went out for romantic dinners. It's Italia, Pasta Moon and Mezza Luna when we we lived coast side in California, because what isn't romantic about putting on your little black dress/suit and tie and going out for Italian food and wine with your loved one on Valentine's Day? Accompanied by candles and amorous music, of course.

After moving to Seattle, we switched gears and opted to go out for Tapas. One year at Pintxo in downtown Seattle, another at Itto's Tapas in West Seattle (which recently expanded to Capitol Hill) for small plates and cava (my current preferred bubbly). Last year we chose to just stay home and order pizza as we were knee deep in wedding planning and exhausted, it was perfect.

And of course, he always sends me flowers! Because nothing says "I love you" like red roses! Thanks hubby, my always and forever valentine!
