Thank you Penelope and the Beauty Bar for partnering on this post and graciously providing a RENEW treatment and spa day. All thoughts are
my own!
I spent much of my summer and now into fall traveling. Between weddings on Eastern Standard Time and our honeymoon in Amsterdam and Greece, my internal clock was a mess. I couldn't tell 3am from 9pm or 1pm from 11pm and every time I boarded a plane crossing time zones, jet lag would hit me once more.
I've always been one to struggle with time zone changes and I absolutely hate that. Which is why I was so excited to discover what I have deemed the perfect way to beat jet lag (disclaimer: this worked for me, but I am by no means an expert on jet lag and this is not a professional medical opinion.)
Following our honeymoon in Greece, I was invited by Penelope and the Beauty Bar
to enjoy a spa day with a full relaxing RENEW treatment that included a
full body exfoliation, followed by a soothing body wrap and concluding
with a customized European facial.

Story of My Dress!
When I lived in Half Moon Bay, on the California coast just outside San Francisco, I would often drive over the "hill" (aka Highway 92) for sunshine and shopping. When the coast was fogged in, I could count on San Jose to still be hot and sunny pretty much all the time. I could also count on San Jose for a Saks OFF 5TH!
I love that Saks OFF 5TH offers great designer fashion at great prices. Some of my favorite closet pieces are from Saks OFF 5TH include a Mar Y Sol Tote I found for almost 50% off I plan to take along on our honeymoon (we're planning it right now!) and a pair of blue slide sandals that are summer favorites.
So you can imagine my excitement upon learning that a Saks Off 5TH would be opening it's first Seattle location in my now-current backyard of downtown Seattle. I had the opportunity to attend the VIP Grand Opening Party, the night before the official opening, and I hardly left empty handed.
The new, approximately 36,000 square foot Saks OFF 5TH is stocked with more than 800 designer brands and an ever-evolving selection of luxury designer fashion, accessories, and of course shoes! I managed to score a See By Chloe mini Polly bag (that can transform into a belt bag!) and Saks Fifth Avenue Fabia Slides; my closet is so happy!
The new Saks OFF 5TH is located in downtown Seattle, Washington at 400 Pine Street on level 3 in Westlake Center and is now open! Happy Shopping!

Coffee in hand, strolling Pike Place Market, a light rain falling; so quintessential Seattle, so Pacific Northwest. A quick stop at La Panier for bread, DeLaurenti for cheese, wine and pasta and the local farmers' market stalls for vegetables; a quick laugh at the tourists in line at the original Starbucks before heading home, love our City life.
Winter florals, a cozy sweater, waterproof boots, hat and solid trench ensure the light rain does not chill to the core. I spy ferry boats along Puget Sound heading for islands and consider stopping at Fran's Chocolates for double chocolate figs for dessert before heading home.

What better way to pay tribute to an iconic Pacific Northwest collection than a visit to the quintessential Seattle Pike Place Market. On a recent summer afternoon I headed to the market in search of fresh flowers, wearing a little black silk dress and retro Brooks Heritage kicks from Brooks Running.
As a runner I have been running in Brooks Running shoes for years. I am a big fan of their running gear for both trail and road runs, which I find to keep me warm and dry on wet and stormy days and cool and protected on hot and sunny days. Seriously so good, one long sleeve shirt from Brooks I've had for over 10 years, has seen hundreds, if not thousands of miles and still looks brand new!
In 2014 Brooks Running launched the Brooks Heritage line to commemorate it's 100 years in business. Brooks Heritage collection celebrated Brooks rich running history with an ode to the classic footwear and retro styles that catapulted us into the running boom of the 70s and beyond. Featuring luxurious materials and detailed craftsmanship, the nine
models in three years delivered by Brooks featured remastered sneakers
from the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. As a runner and lover of all things retro (particularly the 70s), I (alongside other retro sneaker fanatics) was immediately in love with this line.
For my afternoon at Pike Place Market in search of flowers I chose the Brooks Heritage Vanguard Sneaker to pair with a little black silk dress, an oh-so-70s floppy hat and a Longchamp Le Pliage Tote I've had for over 10 years that I purchased at an Airport Duty Free when my bag broke mid-flight.
The Brooks Vanguard Heritage Sneaker was originally introduced in 1976 and captures the essence of of the 1970s running boom with clean design lines, classic styling and the iconic T-toe. The signature shoe of the 2014 Brooks Heritage launch, the addition of this shoe to my wardrobe made both myself and my closet happy.
The Brooks Vanguard Heritage Sneaker was thus the perfect choice to pay tribute to Brooks Heritage because after a strong second run, Brooks Heritage styles have headed back into the vault. “We seized Brooks Running’s centennial as a moment to celebrate the
company’s past footwear milestones in a contemporary way. The Brooks Heritage Collection
gave us the opportunity to authentically
pay tribute to that history and take it to new heights, allowing us to
explore design, express our brand and deliver beautifully crafted
footwear for the consumer seeking something new. After exploring premium
interpretations of Brooks’ most iconic sneakers,
we put the Heritage Collection back into the vault having given a nod
to Brooks’ past while looking to its future.”

Thank you Value Village for partnering on this post! Sustainable fashion is "in" and when it comes down to it, the most sustainable clothing on our planet is clothing that already exists! Give a sh!rt about your clothing footprint! Affiliate links are used throughout this blog. All opinions are my own!
Did you know the world now consumes more than 80 billion pieces of new clothing each year (4x as much as in 1980), with more and more ending up in landfills?! On top of that, the average American throws away 81 pounds of clothing each year! That is crazy talk. Fashion is one of the most wasteful industries on our planet and one of the largest sources of pollution; it takes over 700 gallons of water to make just one t-shirt and over 1800 gallons of water to make just one pair of jeans. That's over 2500 gallons of water for just one outfit. And water is just one of many natural resources required to make new clothing, Yikes! Knowing that I am living on a planet with a finite amount of resources and with billions of other people, I am always looking for ways to reduce my ecological footprint ~ "the impact of a person or community on the environment, expressed
as the amount of land required to sustain their use of natural
resources." - Oxford Dictionary
My Fiance and I have chosen to live in a small house (900 sq feet) in the City where we have access to public transportation (2 buses within a few blocks that can get us downtown in 15 minutes!) and restaurants, shops and parks within walking distance. We share one vehicle, an electric hybrid, and always consider where our food comes from and try to buy local (growing within 100 miles from where we live) when shopping for meals (hello farmer's markets, bread from our neighborhood bakery and local produce and dairy at grocery stores).
This year my goal is to lower the ecological footprint of my closet, because Earth Day is everyday! Value Village just released the 2017 State of Reuse Report, examining perceptions around clothing consumption and reuse; I am taking note and giving a sh!rt about my clothing footprint!

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion has always been a favorite. From the moment I saw it in the movie theater back in the 90's as a teenager, to each time I watch it now as one of my go-to films for re-watching, Romy & Michele is truly a cult classic 90s film. Particularly because of all the fabulous 90s fashion and those costumes! Hello dance routine to "Time after Time" in those mini-dresses!
The film turns 20 this year (does that make me old?!) and once again all things 90's are trending, which my inner High School self is absolutely loving (all the platforms, flared jeans, and baby tees please!) I recently read that the 90s are to today's teens what the 70s was to those of us coming of age in the 90s!
My 90s Teen self is so excited to thus share that the world premier of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion The Musical is coming to Seattle's own 5th Avenue Theatre this June! And I have 2 tickets to GIVE AWAY! (keep reading . . . !)

Embracing Fewer, Better Things
This Spring I am all about embracing fewer, better things in my closet. I want a closet I can peek into and know immediately I want to wear everything in sight. I want a lean closet that is full of high quality, beautiful pieces, and "fewer, better" things. As such, I was so excited when Cuyana reached out to share with me that they would be stopping by Seattle on their Essentials Tour with a Pop-Up Shop this weekend!
Happy New Year! I cannot believe it's 2017 and the year S and I are getting married! That's right, he put a ring on it! I am just loving being engaged and am currently in full wedding planning mode; seriously so excited for the year ahead. Over the holidays I took some time out from the family festivities and wedding planning madness to visit LT Denny Jewelers in Pioneer Square and play dress up with FireCushion Diamonds. Because who can resist the opportunity to play dress up with diamonds? Definitely not me!
