It's the final week countdown until it's officially summer and I am seriously jumping for joy! We hit 90s this week in Seattle and it has been HOT, HOT, HOT! But I am definitely not complaining; I am a huge sunshine and hot weather fan!
With summer, comes all the fun things! Last weekend my husband and I road-tripped to the Gorge Amphitheater (the most AMAZING live music venue) to see the Dead and Company (yay for festival season!) and had such a great time!
Along with summer festivals and live music, this sunshine season brings new store openings, fashion exhibitions, dining al fresco, outdoor adventures and so much more! I just love summer in Seattle!
Particularly
on my radar going into this weekend and the next few weeks are the A Queen Within: Adorned Archetypes exhibition at MoPOP, Seattle Style Fashion/Function exhibit presented by Nordstrom at MOHAI Seattle, Glossier Popup on Capitol Hill and the new Allbirds store at University Village!
Here's all the fun things I'm looking forward to as we head into the beginning of summer . . .
We're one week into the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF)
and there are so many good movies this year! Tonight I am planning to catch Celebration at Pacific Place, an opulent and immersive behind-the-scenes look at haute couture
designer Yves Saint Laurent's final show before his death, told through
the eyes of longtime business partner Pierre Bergé, which was suppressed
for the last two decades. I am so excited to see this film!
Tonight's viewing of Celebration
at Pacific Place is the 2nd Fashion Film Friday of SIFF. Each Friday of
the festival is a different fashion film showing at Pacific Place. Last
Friday was Jean-Paul Gaultier: Freak and Chic (the US Premiere!), with Timeless Beauty showing next Friday and the final Fashion Film Friday featuring Halston (additional showtimes available.)
In addition to four amazing fashion films, I've included in my Seattle International Film Festival Guide this year some incredible films around travel, art, music, design, just for fun and more! There are over 400 films at this year's SIFF, and after strategic examining of this year's film guide, these are 15+ films I am hoping to see!
If you're attending SIFF, I would love to hear your thoughts on the films and what you're planning to see! If you see me at the movies, come say 'Hi'! Now I'm off to the movies . . .
It is really starting to feel like Spring in Seattle! After months of hibernation, the emergence has begun as the new season brings sunshine, new blooms and flowers and so many fun things to do! From new store openings to museum exhibits to festivals, spring into summer (and even looking ahead to fall!) in the Pacific Northwest is about to fantastic!
This new What Wear When: Events in Seattle & Beyond feature here on Story of My Dress is something I'm hoping to keep up every week and share with you all the fun things going on in Seattle and beyond. Featuring fashion, style and beauty events, as well as food/drink, art, music, culture and even just for fun, these events and happenings are all things I'm excited about and thought you might be too!
Particularly on my radar going into this weekend and next week is the Amour Vert Grand Opening at University Village today (April 26), a New Menu by Chef Nick Novello for Fisherman's Restaurant & Bar available April 29 and the MOHAI: Seattle Style Fashion/Function Exhibit presented by Nordstrom opening at MOHAI Seattle on May 4!
Here's all the fun things I'm looking forward to . . .

When I lived in Half Moon Bay, on the California coast just outside San Francisco, I would often drive over the "hill" (aka Highway 92) for sunshine and shopping. When the coast was fogged in, I could count on San Jose to still be hot and sunny pretty much all the time. I could also count on San Jose for a Saks OFF 5TH!
I love that Saks OFF 5TH offers great designer fashion at great prices. Some of my favorite closet pieces are from Saks OFF 5TH include a Mar Y Sol Tote I found for almost 50% off I plan to take along on our honeymoon (we're planning it right now!) and a pair of blue slide sandals that are summer favorites.
So you can imagine my excitement upon learning that a Saks Off 5TH would be opening it's first Seattle location in my now-current backyard of downtown Seattle. I had the opportunity to attend the VIP Grand Opening Party, the night before the official opening, and I hardly left empty handed.
The new, approximately 36,000 square foot Saks OFF 5TH is stocked with more than 800 designer brands and an ever-evolving selection of luxury designer fashion, accessories, and of course shoes! I managed to score a See By Chloe mini Polly bag (that can transform into a belt bag!) and Saks Fifth Avenue Fabia Slides; my closet is so happy!
The new Saks OFF 5TH is located in downtown Seattle, Washington at 400 Pine Street on level 3 in Westlake Center and is now open! Happy Shopping!
Welcome Warby Parker to Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood! On Saturday, October 14 the doors of Warby Parker's third store here in Seattle will open, joining Warby Parker Writer’s Block in Fremont and the University Village location and you're invited to the Grand Opening (details below)!
At the new Capitol Hill location, you'll find wooden shelving and full-length mirrors, as well as custom artwork of some seriously colorful critters from the award-winning, Seattle-based studio Invisible Creature (I hear it makes an excellent selfie backdrop!). To celebrate the new space, Warby Parker will be stocking the store with their Topper sunglasses in Jet Black Matte with Flash Mirrored Silver lenses. These rounded frames are inflected with a few dashing angles and exclusive to the Capitol Hill store. Other items available at the new store will include books sourced from some of Warby Parker's favorite independent publishers like McSweeney’s, New Directions, and n+1. You’ll also spot Warby Parker's own title published by Hachette Books, 50 Ways to Lose Your Glasses.

Seattle! You're invited to a Celebration of Craftsmanship with The Frye Company at the new Frye Company store in University Village this Thursday! Meet the makers, enjoy live music and celebrate the amazing craftsmanship of our City and Frye Boots on September 14 at The Frye Company Seattle!
Frye Company boots have long found a place in my closet; a vintage pair of 1970s Frye cowboy boots were my first official ebay purchase and a beloved pair of Frye platform sandals have danced at multiple summer weddings leaving not a single blister. Both pairs are still in my closet and only continue to get better with age.
The Harness 12R Boots c/o The Frye Company are my most recent Frye addition to my closet and I just adore! For a recent run to the local coffee shop I styled my new boots with my favorite pair of DIY vintage Levi's denim shorts, a Petit Bateau classic tank, Madewell et SÉZANE sweater for the slight end-of summer breeze in the air and the Morley Hat c/o Moorea Seal to hide that messy morning hair.
My new Frye Harness Boots (c/o) are also perfect for fall and styling with
skinny denim and oversized sweaters as the weather changes. Made in the
USA, nothing says American Crafstmanship better than the Frye Harness Boot. Inspired
by the Civil War cavalry, this iconic boot is uncompromising and
truly only gets better with age. Hello fabulous new addition to my closet!
Frye boots and leather goods are well made and meant to last years. Since 1863, this distinctly all-American boot company has been making boots and nurturing artisans. History and heritage go into every single stitch of boots, shoes and bags that soon become heirlooms and passed down treasures. These iconic leather goods consist of only the best in materials, craftsmanship and design ensuring timeless style and unparalleled quality.
Everyone has a Frye Story ~ from the campus boot in college to the vintage cowboy boot found at a thrift store. What's yours?!
Scroll down for all the details and to RSVP for the FRYE Celebration of Seattle
Craftsmanship Event on Thursday September 14, 2017! Hope to see you there!

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion has always been a favorite. From the moment I saw it in the movie theater back in the 90's as a teenager, to each time I watch it now as one of my go-to films for re-watching, Romy & Michele is truly a cult classic 90s film. Particularly because of all the fabulous 90s fashion and those costumes! Hello dance routine to "Time after Time" in those mini-dresses!
The film turns 20 this year (does that make me old?!) and once again all things 90's are trending, which my inner High School self is absolutely loving (all the platforms, flared jeans, and baby tees please!) I recently read that the 90s are to today's teens what the 70s was to those of us coming of age in the 90s!
My 90s Teen self is so excited to thus share that the world premier of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion The Musical is coming to Seattle's own 5th Avenue Theatre this June! And I have 2 tickets to GIVE AWAY! (keep reading . . . !)

A magical, dream of acrobatics, music, incredible costumes and performances held me to constant attention at the Cirque du Soleil Seattle premier of LUZIA: A Waking Dream of Mexico. From beginning to end, the almost psychedelic nature of LUZIA was nothing like I had ever experienced before. It was my first Cirque du Soleil and it will not be my last.
From
the moment we parked and started walking towards The Big Top I felt as
if I was in some sort of fantasy world or waking dream. This was not the
Pickle Family Circus or Barnum & Bailey Circus I remember from my
childhood.
With
a glass of champagne (a beer for my fiance) and 2 VIP popcorn's (very
important popcorn), we took our seats for the Seattle Premier of LUZIA.
Transported to an imaginary Mexico and suspended between reality and a
dream world, LUZIA from Cirque du Soleil invites you to explore all your
senses in a wondrous world enveloped in light and nurtured by rain.
