Fuchsia Shoes: It's all in the Details

Winter has fully set in (although I am so happy the days are now getting longer) and here in Seattle that means many many days of rain and gray. To help get through the next couple months, I am brightening up my winter days with these Fuchsia Shoes baroque ballets!

Each pair of Fuchsia Shoes is handmade uses traditional craftsmanship and artisan detailing that have been apart of women's wardrobes for hundreds of years in Pakistan, China and India. The baroque ballets are no exception and are just beautiful. I am loving wearing them with tights right now and they will easily transition to Spring, Summer and Fall (hello dresses, denim, and of course skirt combos).

Fuchsia Shoes began while co-founder Afshan Abbas was visiting her hometown in Pakistan and bought a few pairs of "kolhapuri", brightly colored sandals, from the market. Upon returning to Seattle, her new sandals received lots of attention, and Afshan teamed up with friends and fellow engineers Hamad, Rameez, and Syed to create Fuchsia Shoes. They began with research into the Pakistani handmade shoe industry and a small shipment of handmade leather ballet flats known as "khussas".

Now much more than just a pair of shoes. Fuchsia hopes to connect cottage industry artisans from Pakistan to the western fashion world. Based out of Seattle, you can find more information about the story of Fuchsia Shoes and shop the current collection here.
