I am all about the 70's as we find ourselves fully immersed in the season of Autumn. From laced-up shift dresses to chunky gold sandals, I am playing up that 70's style with all glam details.
Of original boho origins and 1970's inspired style, the laced-up trend is so on point for Fall with numerous ways to incorporate it into your look; think boots, tops, dresses and more. Whether exposing just a touch of cleavage or placed on the side of a dress, laced up details provide that just-so bit of allure that is chic and playful.
It's super easy to take the lace-up trend and dress it up or down. For a recent visit to the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle for some shopping and dining, I styled the TOBI Better Off Lace UP Shift Dress with a pair of Gold Chunky Sandals by Sigerson Morrison, Tag Earrings by Seattle-based Lucia K Jewelry, a pair of Miu Miu Sunglasses and a bag brought back from Italy.
As the weather grows cooler I plan to pair this dress with tights or leggings and trade my sandals for a pair of over-the-knee boots. This dress is also perfect for styling over flared denim and clogs for true 70's style and stepping out all laced up for Autumn!

The days are getting a bit shorter here in Seattle and it definitely feels like fall. I can feel the darkness of winter approaching (hello gray skies and cold days, and yes I am currently wearing multiple layers!) and I have to admit I am not quite ready to let Summer go. My body and mind pretty much crave the sunshine and although I absolutely love living in Seattle, I have a bit of a hard time during the colder, gray, rainy months in this City. However, I have found two things that really help me get through the gloomier months until Spring. One is coffee (Happy National Coffee Day!) and the second is writing in a journal.
As a follow up to the 52 Lists Project released last year, the just-launched 52 Lists for Happiness by Moorea Seal is a guided journal and yearlong journey to discover your own personal joy, one list at a time. Moorea Seal is a huge inspiration to me and her support for empowerment of women of all ages and "Doing Good while Doing Great Campaign" (7 percent of all proceeds from Moorea Seal benefit nonprofits!). I just loved the 52 Lists Project, so when I had the opportunity to check out her newest book I jumped at the chance! I also knew it would be the perfect journal to accompany me this year with so many big changes ahead (more on that soon!).

It's officially the start of Fashion Week at Bellevue Collection! I am so excited to be attending the Independent Designer Runway Show, Posh Party Trend Show and Front Row Fashion Show presented by Vogue. Now I just have to figure out all my outfits!
From September 21-25, 2016, the best of fall fashion comes to life on the runway at Fashion Week at Bellevue Collection. As the Northwest's leading runway show venue, experience exclusive runway shows, trend reports and demonstrations, chic parties and of course lots and lots of shopping at Bellevue Collection stores (hello Nordstrom, Zara, Uniqlo, DVF, and so many more of my favorite shopping spots!).
And while many of the premier events are now sold out, you can still join in on the fun of Bellevue Fashion Week! I'll be sharing recaps of all the shows here on Story of My Dress and also live on Story of My Dress social media (Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook). You can also attend some fabulous FREE (Yes, Free!) shows and events with no ticket needed (some require an appointment or RSVP). Complimentary events include a fashion forecast with Vogue Market Stylist Cara Crowley, Catwalk at the Collection Fashion Shows, Fab in Five with complimentary hair and makeup touch-ups and more!

Seriously, nothing getting done here! And of course there's all the local Seattle events. Last week I hosted the #onthecusp Fall Trend Event at Neiman Marcus and attended the preview party for the new Styled Seattle space in Pacific Place. AND this week is Fashion Week at the Bellevue Collection, as well as the newest addition to the fashion month calendar here in Seattle: The Seattle Goodwill Design Challenge! And guess what? I've got 2 tickets to giveaway to one of you lovelies to the Seattle Goodwill Design Challenge!
